Head Start is a Federal program for children from low-income families and children with disabilities. The Head Start program is operated by local non-profit organizations in almost every county in the country. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive medical and dental care, have healthy meals, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.

Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of all children, including those with disabilities. Children in Head Start are between the ages of birth and five years old.

Head Start of Northeastern Nevada serves over 150 families in our program yearly and has plans for expanding our services by adding spaces for 20 more infants and toddlers. We provide quality care for children while parents are working, in job training, or in school.

Although we have a grant of Federal funds, it is not sufficient to allow us full completion of the goals and objectives of our special population without the assistance from the community. We are asking for support in the form of donations to enhance our various programs such as: Fatherhood Involvement, Head Start Scholarship program, Classroom in the Outdoors curriculum, Head Start Family Literacy program, and our Building Renovation Fund, to name just a few.
